The ancient Turkish area of Tuzluca district, originally known as Kulp, which has supported various civilizations, was liberated from Russian domination on October 7, 1920. In 1923, it became a district that was incorporated. Due to the plentiful supply of rock salt in the area, Kulp was renamed Tuzluca in 1934. The majority of the landforms are mountains.
It has a 1254 km2 surface area and is located 39 km from the city centre. Iğdır Province in the south, the Digor District of Kars in the north, Armenia and the Aras River in the east, and the Ar Mountain in the west form the district’s borders. It is Iğdır largest district by surface area.
The hills in the Tuzluca district of Iğdır are a popular destination for photographers because of their eye-catching red, brown, green, and white hues. The Tuzluca neighbourhood in Iğdır Rainbow Hills is one of the locations that tourists as well as people who make promises, participate in weddings, get married, and take wedding photos adore. They draw those who see them with their hues as well as their different sizes.

Photographers flock to this area to capture the sunrise on the hills that encompass thousands of acres of vibrant scenery, including the 2,500-foot Tekelti Mountain, in their photos. Arzu and Adem Akarsu chose the Rainbow Hills as the backdrop for their wedding photography because they believed the hills were beautiful.
Stating that the hills were very beautiful for taking photos, Adem Akarsu said, “We had a wedding shoot. We were offered this place for the wedding shoot, so we came here. The rainbow hills are a very beautiful place as you have seen. It is a truly natural wonder, we recommend this place when you have a shoot. It was very nice and we were satisfied.”
