Aspendos Amphitheater in Antalya
As previously said, Aspendos was built on the hills, which led to the construction of the Aspendos Amphitheater, a stunning semicircle theater on the hillside in the old Roman style. The huge surface of the theater is divided into two portions, separated by stairwells and hallways.
Aside from the chairs, the first row is allocated for judges and businesses. The city’s notables sat in the second row, with women in the marble-encrusted high chairs and men in the lower seats, with the monarch and royal family sitting in a privileged and dignified position. It’s worth noting that these seats are arranged in 20 rows to allow viewers to see human-animal encounters.
The Amphitheater gallery is divided into two levels, each with two tall and slender columns visible when visitors enter. The Aspendos Amphitheater, which has a diameter of 96 meters and a height of 22 meters, is also worth noticing. It is entirely made of lime, and on the first floor, visitors can see various rooms used to train gladiators.
